About Cumberland Hospital for Children and Adolescents
Cumberland Hospital is a unique environment offering a different approach to help children and adolescents with complex needs by providing a safe, therapeutic atmosphere to flourish. Whether your child is dealing with a brain injury, chronic illness or neurobehavioral issues, our Hospital Services will create an individualized plan to help them heal emotionally and physically. Cumberland Hospital employs a team of professionals who are experts in childhood development, diseases, injuries and emotional adaptation. We use the latest approaches in medical management and adaptive skill-building to help young people ages two to 22 heal physically and develop emotionally.
Our Residential Treatment Program provides your child with the consistent, structured medical, practical and emotional support they need to thrive. When behavioral and emotional problems interfere with a young person’s ability to function well at school or at home, they need supervision for medical compliance and a structured environment to address behavioral, emotional and control issues. Cumberland’s Residential Services Program is designed for adolescents who have a chronic illness, brain injury or neurological impairment, providing them with a specialized medical atmosphere when hospitalization is not needed. The program can accommodate 16 residents and accepts young people with IQs of 55 or greater.
Cumberland’s Seger Group Home for Boys provides a specialized environment for residents who do not need hospitalization or residential treatment but require daily structure and interventions to address behavioral and emotional issues that prevent successful self-care.The beautiful neighborhood home is community-based with 24-hour staff supervision, which gives residents the opportunity to practice self-care and family-type activities as they learn skills they need to become more independent. In a variety of ways, including family support services, recreational activities and group excursions, residents learn how to live with their families and neighbors.
