FAQ

Q

Do I need an email account to apply?

A

You must have an active e-mail account to apply for a job online. If you do not have an e-mail account, there are several resources available that offer free e-mail accounts (For example: http://www.hotmail.com, http://www.google.com, etc).

Q

How do I find a job?

A

You may conduct a job search at any time; however, in order to apply, you must have a profile. You can find a job by using keywords and geographic location. For example, if looking for RN positions, type in “RN” and “Washington DC”.

Q

How do I apply?

A

First, you must create a job profile with a username and password prior to submitting an application. This will not only allow you to search for jobs at GW Hospital, but allows us to search for you! This profile is not considered an application. If you are interested in being considered for a specific position, you will need to "apply" for that job.

Q

What happens once I apply for a position?

A

We encourage all applicants to read the job requirements on the job posting carefully. Applicants who do not meet the minimum job requirements cannot be moved forward in the process. This ensures fairness and aligns with our philosophy of being an Equal Opportunity Employer. Applicants who are considered a good fit will be contacted. Thousands of applications are received annually. Securing a position at GW Hospital is a competitive process. See our Application Tips above for more information.

Q

What can I expect after I complete my application?

A

Upon receipt of your application, you may expect the following:

  • You will receive confirmation that your application was successfully completed
  • You can check your profile for an updated status
  • You may receive an email with a link to take an assessment
  • You will be contacted by a recruiter or manager if you are considered a top candidate for any position for which your skills, experience and competencies match our needs
  • We will continue to include you in searches for skills, experience and competencies as other positions become available

Q

Why was I emailed a link to take an assessment?

A

Some positions require the completion of an assessment. Instructions and a link for the assessment will be sent to the email address on your application. The assessment is reviewed and scored by an external vendor. To ensure confidentiality and validity, we cannot provide information about results. The assessment is part of a multi-component selection process. If you do not pass the assessment, you can re-apply and take it again after 6 months.

Q

Can I check on the status of my application?

A

You may check the status of your application by logging into your account with your user name and password. If you forget your password, use “forgot my password”.

Q

My information has changed since I applied. Can I update my application?

A

A submitted employment application is a single document and cannot be changed. You can, however, edit your contact information, by logging into your profile and updating your information.

Q

I see a position that was posted some time ago. Is it still available?

A

GW Hospital strives to fill open positions quickly. Finding the best and right candidate, however, is our first priority. All positions on the website are currently open.

Q

What should I do if I am having trouble applying online?

A

Use a different browser and make sure your pop-up blockers are turned off.
