Basic responsibilities include performing initial activity therapy assessments, identifying problem areas and developing appropriate treatment goals. Also, facilitating 3-4 groups a day, completing group documentation and communicating with other members of the treatment team via treatment planning, team meetings or other means. Responsible for providing education to MHS' through both formal and informal means to ensure that therapeutic group facilitation is effective in teaching positive coping skills and is appropriate in its delivery. Finally, responsible for maintaining accurate and timely documentation.
Education: Master's Degree in Allied Health field or active pursuing Master's Degree required, degree in Art or Expressive Therapy is preferred. CTRS certification or Board Certified Music Therapist preferred. Experience: Two years related experience preferred. CPR certified. Technical Skills: Ability to communicate effectively through spoken word and in writing. Other: The Activities Therapist must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status, interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's/area's/department's policies and procedures. Required to work weekends, as well as weekdays and some holidays.
