Summit Oaks Hospital, a 126 bed, private acute care hospital and chemical dependency treatment center, located in suburban Summit, NJ, fully accredited (by the Joint Commission), has been providing quality health care to adult, child and adolescent northeastern USA residents since 1902. The Hospital has been recognized in U.S. News & World Report, as one of the nation's best behavioral health hospitals. Our Mental Health Associate(MHA) position presents an ideal opportunity for an energetic, motivated individual with superior communication and time management skills to launch or advance their career in the field of behavioral health. The Mental Health Associate functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, role modeling, and monitoring patients ranging in age from preschool through geriatrics , depending on the nursing unit assigned. At present, the Nursing Units include a 28 bed adult psych unit, a 28 bed adult dual diagnosis, a 22 bed child and adolescent unit , a 24 bed detox unit and a 20 bed rehab unit. Other MHA duties include taking vital signs, conducting educational groups and responding to codes.

Education: High School Degree or equivalent; plus Certification as a Nursing Assistant; or a Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, recreational therapy or other related therapeutic discipline.
Experience: Related work experience with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness is preferred.
